Allegheny Together: Creating Collaborative Business Development Opportunities through Community Outreach and Engagement

Established in the year 2007, Allegheny County Economic Development’s Allegheny Together Program is a five-year opportunity that provides technical assistance, strategic planning support, and community outreach assistance for Counties seeking to revitalize downtown-based communities. Ultimately, through this program, applicants utilize such tools to promote new local business, as well as, ensure overall business sustainability within respective communities.

Since the establishment of the program, twelve communities have successfully graduated, while three communities are currently within their third year of the program. A most recent snapshot of the program highlights that just last year, from July to December, 17 new small businesses have opened; 102 new jobs were created; and a total of 381 businesses were supported in participating communities.

Moving forward in 2019, Allegheny Together is continuously striving to improve its effectiveness and overall impact with the help of newly on-boarded consulting firms, evolveEa and Fourth Economy. In gearing up for this exciting new chapter, community outreach kick-off meetings have already begun in currently participating communities. Announcements regarding the onboarding of new applicants can be anticipated, later this year.
