Recognizing that their collective voice would be stronger than their individual voices, community groups across Pittsburgh came together in 1988 to advocate for holistic reinvestment in the city’s neighborhoods. From its very beginning, PCRG has been committed to advocating for sound public policy and government practices to revitalize low- to moderate- income communities. PCRG seeks to affect system change at the local, state, regional, and federal level through advocating for sound community revitalization policies and practices.
PCRG Vision Statement
The three Eās ā economy, environment, and equity, and through building the help and support of our many partners, PCRG would not be able to make any progress in bringing the economy, environment, or equity to our neighborhood communities.
By economy we mean the financial resources and tools needed to rebuild the market in under-served neighborhoods and to restore household wealth to families struggling to make ends meet. We will bring our many partners to join us at the table ā banks, foundations, corporations, and government to affect our economy
By environment we mean building sustainable communities and households. In order to be truly successful, we need to teach our residents financial literacy ā only then will we build long-lasting, sustainable financial stability for our neighborhood communities.
By equity we mean social equity a fair, just, and equitable distribution of financial resources and access to government programs and services. Without social equity we will never be able to solve the problem of urban disinvestments and the resulting concentration of poverty.
The different, and integrally linked, orking groups of PCRG carry out this Vision on a daily basis. See the below Working Group pages for more information on current Policy considerations.
